From Newfoundland to Alaska,  from California to Key West,

The US and Canada have so much to see and do.  Limitless sights and sounds to hold the interest of any one with a traveling spirit.  From the gracious hospitality of the American South to changing colors in New England or Nova Scotia; From the wild openness of the Western Mountains to the ever present closeness of Chicago, New York or San Francisco; From the crack of the bat at Fenway to the hush of the fishing fleets in the mists off Newfoundland’s Grand Banks.

We’ve traveled via motorhome or motorcycle in all but two of the United States and all ten Canadian Provinces and the two Territories that can be driven to.  We’ve been to Hawaii, but until they finish the bridge you still have to fly; and somehow we just haven’t figured out how to get to Rhode Island yet.  We’ve travelled north of the Arctic Circle on the only two roads in all of North America that do so and generally have just plain covered a lot of ground.  In the US & Canada we’ve traveled over 150,000 miles in motorhomes and about the same on motorcycles; and cannot begin to say we’ve seen it all; ‘though for lack of trying.

On this site we’ve broken our travels in the US and Canada into three sections, plus a new page that will take you directly to some of our more far out travels in this part of the world.  Click on any of these four links to go to these pages.

  1. 1. Hitting the Road, 2001 ~ 2003

  2. 2. Second Time Around, 2004 ~ 2006

  3. 3. What Have You Done For Me Lately, 2007 and later

  4. 4. On the Edges, direct access to our trips to Alaska, Nova Scotia & Newfoundland

In Hitting the Road we travel, first by motorcycle and then in our first motorhome, from our home in California to the east coast and back a few times; spend our first winters in Florida and Texas and take our first short trip to Mexico (see our Mexico page for this story and the ones below).  We have a lot of fun, learn a lot about ourselves and our new life on the road and decide that we truly love our life on the road, returning home in 2003 to sell our home in Paso Robles.

During the Second Time Around we venture north to Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula and on to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador.  We also see much more of Canada, traveling across the continent and then up to the Yukon and our first trip to Alaska.  We also take two more trips into Mexico and cover much new ground in the western and eastern US.  It is during this time that we determine that we want to travel further afield, which leads us to our Pan American journey beginning in 2007.

What Have You Done for Me Lately covers our second trip to Alaska along with the Yukon and Northwest Territories and some fast cross country travel as we first buy and then outfit our Provan Tiger for our travel to South America and beyond.  We return to the states in 2009 in order to rest, relax, and refit prior to shipping off to Europe for further adventures abroad.

You can also go directly to our new On The Edges page for immediate access to our tales from Alaska, the Yukon and Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador.

We hope that you’ll enjoy reading our stories about these travels and that you’ll feel motivated to get out and see more of the world as well.  Adventure is just around the corner.
